Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 tablespoons blue raspberry flavoring
  • 1/4 teaspoon blue liquid food color
  • Lemon-lime soda for serving
  • Blue coarse sugar for rimming glasses
  • Clear piping gel for glass preparation
  • Brew Glitter optional, for sparkle

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Mixing bowl
  • Stirring spoon or whisk
  • Shallow dish or plate
  • Small paintbrush
  • Serving glasses
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Straws

Method

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of granulated sugar to create your simple syrup base.
  2. Place the saucepan on the stove over medium heat and stir continuously until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture becomes clear. This typically takes 3-5 minutes. Do not let it boil.
  3. Once the sugar has fully dissolved, remove the saucepan from heat and carefully pour the simple syrup into a heat-safe mixing bowl. This allows the syrup to cool more quickly than leaving it in the hot pan.
  4. While your simple syrup cools, place your lemon-lime soda in the refrigerator to chill thoroughly for the best-tasting beverage.
  5. When the simple syrup has cooled to room temperature (about 15-20 minutes), add 4 tablespoons of blue raspberry flavoring and 1/4 teaspoon of blue liquid food color. Stir the mixture thoroughly until the flavoring and color are fully combined and evenly distributed throughout the syrup.
  6. To prepare decorated glasses, pour blue coarse sugar into a shallow dish or plate, spreading it evenly across the surface.
  7. Using a small paintbrush, apply a thin layer of clear piping gel around the rim of each glass, creating an even coating that will help the sugar adhere.
  8. Gently dip and roll the gel-coated rim into the blue coarse sugar, pressing lightly to ensure the sugar crystals stick and create an attractive, professional-looking finish.
  9. To assemble your blue raspberry drink, pour 1.5 cups of chilled lemon-lime soda into your prepared glass and add a small pinch of Brew Glitter for that extra sparkle.
  10. Using a straw, gently stir the Brew Glitter into the soda to distribute the shimmer throughout the beverage.
  11. Add 4 tablespoons (1/4 cup) of your homemade blue raspberry simple syrup to the glass.
  12. Stir the syrup into the soda until well blended, add ice cubes if desired, and enjoy your vibrant, delicious blue raspberry creation!
